HR Advisor

REF: QS-HRA-001

Location: Bournemouth, Dorset.
Working Hours: Part-Time – circa 25 hours per week
Reports to: Business Services Team
Salary: to £30-£35k pro-rata (dependant upon experience)
Holiday: 25 days pro-rata

Job Role

Full accountability for all HR processes and procedures, responsible for a growing headcount of circa 25 employees with the remit to maintain HR best practices within the business. Working alongside the senior management team this role will be responsible for creating and embedding new processes and help further enhance the culture of the business and ensure the people agenda is in line with the overall business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, guide and advise management on HR best practices
  • Manage and develop employee engagement
  • Drive alignment between HR strategy and business goals

Strategy

  • Design and implement a recruitment strategy
  • Identify, attract and recruit talent in to the business
  • Nurture potential talent outside of the business
  • Preparing offer letters and contracts of employment for future hires
  • Managing the on boarding of new staff, including the induction process
  • Ensure employees are managed effectively during their probationary period and send letters advising of successful completion
  • Co-ordinate recruitment activities

Recruitment

  • Accurately maintaining all employee HR records in line with statutory requirements
  • HR documents such as offer letters/ contracts/ probation reviews/ maintaining employee files/ hard and soft copies
  • Prepare monthly payroll for external providers

Administration

  • Maintain employee handbooks, contracts and policies
  • Implementing new policies as per the business needs

Policy Creation and Management

  • Assisting with objective setting across the business
  • Implementation of a one-to-one/objective management process and assessment of employees
  • Conducting regular staff one-to-ones
  • Managing the appraisal system and process
  • Conduct a training needs analysis and support managers in ensuring employees have the skills required to perform effectively

Employee Relations

  • Oversee and manage the grievance and disciplinary processes. Support, guide and advise management on HR best practices
  • Ensure policies and procedures are communicated, applied and enforced
  • Continuously monitor and review HR policies and processes and implement changes where necessary
  • Provide advice on current and existing benefits for employees

Skills and Experience

The ideal person for this role will have demonstrable HR Generalist experience and employment law knowledge, with a good knowledge of HR best practice. Ideally with experience of having operated in a standalone HR role with a high degree of tact, discretion and diplomacy.

Essential Skills

  • Experience of working in a generalist HR environment
  • Degree or equivalent qualification, i.e. a CIPD Qualification
  • A confident communicator with a strong commercial mindset
  • Ability to work autonomously and implement new ways or working and HR practices

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Hands-on, exceptional organisational and administration skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Experience in a professional services business would be an advantage
  • A willingness to learn and throw yourself into whatever tasks are assigned
